Laboratory Introduction

The Laboratory of Brain Atlas and Brain-Inspired Intelligence (Brain-AI Lab) is an independent, institute-level scientific research department directly affiliated with the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It was established in September 2022.

The laboratory will focus on systematic innovation in next-generation brain-inspired artificial intelligence. It aims to promote the deep convergence of brain science and artificial intelligence by integrating research in brain atlas, brain-computer interfaces, brain-inspired computing, and brain-inspired intelligence. By drawing inspiration from the structure, function, and learning paradigms of biological brains, the lab seeks to develop brain-inspired AI theories, methods, technologies, and systems characterized by low-power consumption and high cognitive capabilities.

Current research interests of the Brain-AI Lab include but not limited to:
(1) Brainnetome Research
(2) Microscale Reconstruction and Intelligent Analysis
(3) Brain-Inspired Cognitive AI
(4) Brain-Inspired Computational Intelligence
(5) Neural Computation and Brain-Computer Interaction
(6) Brain-Computer Interface and Integrated Intelligence
(7) Neuroengineering & NeuroAI
(8) AI for Life Science
