Team of Microscale Reconstruction and Intelligent Analysis is primarily dedicated to deciphering brain network structures at the microscale and exploring brain-inspired computational intelligence.

Established in August 2015, team of Microscale Reconstruction and Intelligent Analysis is one of the first team in China to carry out the research and development of microscale brain connectomics technology system, including large-volume biological sample preparation, high-throughput electron microscopy 3D imaging, multimodal neural reconstruction, and cross-scale neural network modelling, etc. In 2020, the team established the Center for Microscale Connectomics, a world-class platform capable of supporting full-chain microscale brain connectome projects, with the full-chain technical capability to carry out large-scale microscopic brain connectome mapping engineering, which will be synchronously applied and promoted to the fields of biomedical pathology, neuromimetic modelling, and AI for Science, etc., and will carry out in-depth collaborative researches with the top-level subject groups in many fields in China.

Currently, the team consists of over 30 research and engineering professionals, including 3 full professors and 7 associate professors, as well as more than 10 Ph.D. students. The laboratory is equipped with over 30 sets of large-scale instruments and covers more than 1,000 square meters. The team has undertaken numerous major projects funded by national science and technology initiatives, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission. To date, the team has published over 100 academic papers in prestigious venues such as TPAMI, ESWA, TNNLS, IJCAI, CVPR, MICCAI, Science, Nature Communications, Cell Reports, The Plant Cell, and BMC Biology, and holds more than 30 granted national invention patents.
